It’s time for this week’s music round up and we have all the hottest new songs and videos for you to enjoy on a warm Wednesday afternoon. Have a look at this week’s selection below.
1. 5 Seconds of Summer – ‘Don’t Stop’
5 Seconds Of Summer have unveiled their super hero styled video for their single ‘Don’t Stop.’ The foursome’s second official single is a catchy pop song that takes influence from bands like Busted and McFly. In the video, the boys all take up a super hero persona and go out to fight crime! ‘Don’t Stop’ is out on June 15th and will be followed by their debut album on June 30th.
2. Arcade Fire ‘We Exist’
Arcade Fire have released ‘We Exist’ – the latest single from their number one album ‘Reflector.’ The mid tempo indie rock track is about a gay son coming out to his father, according to front man Win Butler. The video stars Andrew Garfield and depicts the struggle of identity. Dealing with a very topical issue, the video is emotive and perfectly accompanies the track. ‘We Exist’ will be released on May 26th.
3. Nicki Minaj – ‘Pills And Potions’
It’s been two years since Nicki Minaj released her last album and after a long wait fans can finally hear the lead single ‘Pills And Potions’ from her third record. This track is quite mellow, particularly when compared to her former singles that shot her to stardom, such as ‘Superbass’ and ‘Starships.’ The song feels far more personal than her previous work as she deals with an issue that everyone can relate to – heartbreak. Nicki worked with producer Dr. Luke who has also worked with the likes of Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears. ‘Pills And Potions’ will be released on May 21st and Nicki’s album ‘The Pink Print’ is due out later this year.
4. Pitbull featuring Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte – ‘We Are One (Ole Ola)’
In an unusual move by FIFA, Pitbull was chosen for the Brazil 2014 World Cup official song ‘We Are One (Ole Ola).’ The American rapper was clearly inspired by Brazil’s carnival culture in both the music and the video. Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian pop star Claudia also have short verses on the song and their vocal talents are under used. Overall the track has had a negative reception from fans who feel the song should have been done by a Brazilian artist. ‘We Are One (Ole Ola) is out now and the FIFA World Cup begins on June 12.
