Musical Mondays

BassBuds | October 27, 2014

Corene’s choice today is Pia Mia and Krept and Konan’s rendition of Craig David’s classic ‘Can you fill me in’. After their recent success at the Mobo Awards, winning the award as the Best Hip Hop act, Krept & Konan are a force to be reckoned with. This tune alongside the very young but incredibly talented Pia Mia reminds us why their name is on everyone’s lips. We love this one!

Benjy’s choice for Musical Monday, really does gets you ready to combat the week! ‘Deadweight’ by the Proxies is perfect to hear on a Monday morning. The British alternative rock band came to light in 2010 but to the dismay of many of their fans, there have been some strong hints that the band are no longer together. As unfortunate as this may be, at least through the years, they have created amazing music that we can reference back to- and who knows, maybe they might surprise us!

This morning Eve has given us a bit of BANKS, and to be honest, we can’t get enough of her! ‘F**k Em Only We Know’ is a perfect tune to remind us of the brilliance that new artists are producing. Having recently performed a Coachella this year and even having her songs featured in the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy – we can definitely see the ways in which BANKS is climbing her way up the music industry and we are definitely excited about what is yet to come!

Warren has chosen a tune off Chris Brown’s latest album ‘X’. ‘Drunk Texting’ featuring the angelic voice of Jhene Aiko, voices an action that most of us are guilty of! We are loving the new album released in September and must  applaud Chris on his most recent collaborations,  including one by Nicki Minaj  which has just been announced to be released on Tuesday . Excited much!

Mat’s choice comes from the wonderful artistry that is Ajja and Cosmosis. ‘ The  Alien Jams’ is one album that stands out from the rest. This live guitar chill album, is indeed a live recording from an improvised, free style concert by Ajja and Cosmosis, musical brilliance that was inspired by life art being created at an artistic event in front of their very eyes. If this doesn’t get you in a creative mood this morning I don’t know what will!

Benediction by August Alsina ft Rick Ross of his ‘Testimony’ album is Tia’s choice this week. August’s last album, ‘Testimony’ hit number 2 on the Billboard 200 when it debuted in April this year and with the amount of brilliant features from Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, B.o.B and Trinidad James, this is an album we can’t get enough of!
